There's no seven-day trial to claim. ElevenLabs' "free trial" is a free Starter plan with a monthly credit allowance, and the part that actually trips people up is the verification email: it has to arrive, it has to stay readable, and the famous temp-mail domains are exactly the ones that fail that test.

What the free plan actually gives you

• A monthly credit allowance, historically around 10,000 credits, roughly ten minutes of audio a month. The exact figure has changed as ElevenLabs has reworked its credits, so confirm the current number on their pricing page.
• Full text-to-speech plus limited voice cloning on the free tier, which is enough to decide whether the paid plans are worth it.
• Paid plans on top for more credits, longer voices and commercial use: Creator around $5/month and Pro around $22/month as of 2026 pricing.
• It's an allowance that resets, not a trial you activate. You don't claim anything; you sign up and the free tier is there.

The real gate: the verification email

ElevenLabs verifies the address before you can use the account, and the verification mail is where the disposable-email problem lives. ElevenLabs' own help-centre page for "why am I not receiving a verification email" exists because this is the most common wall people hit. The usual causes:

• The mail lands in spam. Check there before assuming the service is broken.
• The provider blocks it. Some providers, the free temp-mail services included, refuse or silently drop verification mail from AI services.
• The address dies before you finish. A 24-hour throwaway can expire between signup and verification, which reads to ElevenLabs as a failed account.

Why your email has to survive

Does a new email mean a new free allowance?

What to use instead

1. You're trying text-to-speech once

Use your real email and don't buy anything. The free Starter plan is the trial; a rented mailbox adds risk to a signup that needs nothing but a working inbox.

2. You want the account, the voices and the keys to survive

Now a mailbox earns its keep, provided it's a permanent one you actually control: real credentials, its own recovery address, and IMAP or POP3 access if you're automating. Same price as a throwaway, and it'll still open next year.

3. You're building on the API

Same answer as case 2, with more riding on it. The API keys are tied to the account, and the account is tied to the email. Use an address you control, your own provider or a permanent mailbox, because the moment that address stops working the keys stop being recoverable.
